He was predeceased by : his wife Dr. Camilla Carter; and his parents, Carter Cox, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Eldridge Cox. He is survived by : his children, David (Tammy), Martha Silmon and Stephen (Susie). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

A reception was held on Wednesday, July 3rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop (222 S Washington St, Bastrop, LA 71220).
