He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxile Fontenot and Zula Manuel Fontenot; and his siblings, Maurice Fontenot and Helen Sittig. He is survived by: his wife Sue Fontenot of Basile; his sons, Michael Fontenot (Karen) of Basile and Cornell Fontenot (Cindy) of Basile; his sister Shirley Ledoux (Davis) of Basile; and his grandchildren, Carey Fontenot, Lauren Lemoine, Jill Jenkins, Andrea Daggett, Paden Marcantel and Jesslyn Austin. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
