It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herman Castler Helmer Sr. of Barataria, Louisiana, who passed away on October 14, 2021, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his daughter Jenny Helmer Gilmore (Jim); and his parents, Margaret Wiseman Helmer and Peter Helmer. He is survived by: his wife Hazel P. Helmer; his children, Herman Helmer Jr. (Rebecca), Diana Helmer Matherene (James), Katherine Helmer Ekinia (Louis), Lisa Helmer Stein (Jason), Eilene Helmer Necaise (James), Loretta Helmer Johnson (Eric), Darrin Helmer Sr. (Tracy), Michael Helmer (Windy) and Elsie Helmer Walls (Jimmy); and his stepchildren, Floyd Breaux, Terry Cavalier, Phyllis Dominique, Diana Trafficano, Gene Cavalier, Deborah Cavalier, Jennifer Cavalier and Mary Irvin. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
