He was predeceased by: his parent Reverend Paul James Lawson (Lena Antee Lawson); and his siblings, Jean Himel, Fern Walley, Sue Morris and Nerry Lawson.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene K. Jewell Lawson; his children, Tracy Billings (Michael) of Worthington, KY, Brian James Lawson (Michelle) of Southaven, MS and James David Lawson, Jr. of Columbia, LA.; and his siblings, Bobbie McGee, Debbie Walley, Faye Bergen, Wayne Lawson and Tim Lawson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
