He was predeceased by: his parents, Adele Gauthier and Walter Gauthier; his wife Taeko Abe; his siblings, Eddie, Sam (Fulton), Preston, Ira, Virgie and Sable; and his sons-in-law, William "Billy" Ferguson and Jefferson "Jay" Matthews.
He is survived by: his sister Emily (Pete); his daughters, Joan Ferguson, Annette Matthews and Laura Yerby (Robert); his granddaughters, Rylee Ferguson Duncan (James) and Sophia Matthews; and his great grandchild Vincent James Duncan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
