He was predeceased by: his parents, Doc Joe Stephens and Laura Garrison Stephens. He is survived by: his wife Pauline McEntire Stephens; and his sons, Gary Don Stephens, Earnest Joe Stephens (Katrina "Skeet"), Brad Keith Stephens (Ann) and Jason Craig Stephens (Lisa).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church Horseshoe Drive in Alexandria.
