He was predeceased by: his parents, Almond Archie Burns and Amey Wells Burns; and his siblings, Alvin, Archie, Leonard, A. D. Burns, Ollie Mae Plesa, Katherine Edwards and Helen Basco.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Guin Burns; his sons, Michael Burns (Fredda Jean) and Jerry Burns (Katherine Tyler); his sister Evangeline Guin (Bobby); his grandchildren, Michaela Burns (Jesse Whittenburg), Mickayla Cain (Jonathon), Mikalynn Troquille (Cory) and Alex Burns; and his great grandchild Levi Wyatt Troquille.
