She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Diane Brown and Michael Patterson (Grumpy). She is survived by: her parents, Douglas Schmitt and Jan Patterson Schmitt; her siblings, Ethan Schmitt and Emma Kate Schmitt; and her grandmother Kay Patterson. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her GoFundMe, the proceeds of which will be used to establish Lex's Learning Foundation which seeks to provide hands-on science opportunities for students at Rosenthal Montessori and other community schools.
