He was predeceased by: his brother Kenneth Edwin Montgomery; and his significant other Alice Merrill. He is survived by: his sisters, Linda M. Carmena (Frank) and Jean Marcel (Jeryl); his nieces, Kimberly L. Muscarello (Patrick), Summer C. Theriot (Brad) and Jessica L. Montgomery; his nephew Robert Lee Montgomery; his great-nieces, Ashleigh M. Bourgeois (Trett), Meghan R. Muscarello and Anna Claire Theriot; and his great-nephew John Thomas Theriot.
