He is survived by: his wife Susie Ballard Barthel; his daughter Jamie; his son-in-law Tim Mask; his grandsons, Collier Mitchell and William Mask; and his siblings-in-law, Sherry, Wiley Lear, John and Debbie Ballard.
However, his true passion was designing and drawing house plans for over 50 years until Parkinson's robbed him of his skill.
