He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Victor Fontenot, I and Mary Adelia Redden Fontenot; and his brother William "Bill" Fontenot. He is survived by: his wife Constance Dale Fontenot (Connie); his children, Paul Victor Fontenot, II, Hope Fontenot-Morris (Scott), Sean Russel Fontenot (Melanie) and April Fontenot Daigrepont (Michael); his grandchildren, Victor, Cooper, Audrey, Izzy, Sydney, Skyler, Stone Morris, Eileen, Spencer Fontenot, Justin and Adam Talbot; his great grandchildren, Lain, Archer, Bennett and Lucas Fontenot; his sister-in-law Starr Fontenot; and his siblings, E. Gayle Coates (Ray), Dorris L. Parker (Warren) and Robert V. Fontenot (Glenda).
