Eugene J Ichinose wrote a sympathy message

“in the Green vs. White football game and then playing JV soccer side-by-side as forwards in the muddy field of Belle Chasse. Clay was always very kind. He never made fun of my dark blue velvet V-neck shirt and did not hold a grudge against me when I lost his gold necklace and cross. These are treasured memories and today and every day I am sadly missing my brother and friend.”

Eugene J Ichinose wrote a sympathy message

“I think it's the little things I'll miss about Clay. As kids, there was nothing better than spending the day at Clay's pool during those muggy New Orleans summers. I remember we'd entertain ourselves for hours by just swimming after a spray cap off of a Lysol aerosol can. I also remember riding my bike to his house and whistling loudly for him to come out and join me to ride to the River Bend. It seems like yesterday that we were eighth-graders playing defense against each other in the Green”

Anne LaMastra wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Milling Family—Clay was the very first person (after my roommate Heather) I met at Vanderbilt Law School. I remember exactly where we were. Warm, engaging, we had an instant rapport. I can hear his voice—so distinctive—even now. Later on Heather and I went over to Clay and Bernie’s apartment to hang out—the start of a long friendship. Our lives intertwined in Atlanta till the end. Never heard him say anything mean, ever. A rare kindness. Beloved by our entire class. RIP Clay.”
