He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Simpkins and Abigail Simpkins; his daughter Rebecca Lynn Simpkins; his siblings, Paul Simpkins, Floyd Simpkins, Chodie Simpkins and Helen Hughes; and his great grandchild Brasyn McClanahan.

He is survived by: his children, David Simpkins (Melinda), John Simpkins (Patty), Deborah "Dee" Hamilton (Mike) and Dianna Roddy (Dale); and his wife Norma Simpkins. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
