He is survived by: his son Roger Smart (Barbara) of Anacoco; his siblings, Marie Thornton (Tex) of Anacoco, Joyce Slaughter (Richard) of Anacoco, Bobby Smart (Pam) of Anacoco and Thomas Smart (Becky) of Anacoco; his granddaughters, Nicole Whelan (Eric) of Natchitoches and Ashlee Smart of Anacoco; and his close friend Margaret Glaspie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His civic contributions to his community were endless.
