He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Lofton Gautier and Margaret Cavins Gautier; and his grandparents, William, Annie McCutchen Cavins and Ivy Gautier Dillow.

He is survived by: his wife Artie Fellom Gautier; his children, Thad Gautier (Jennifer), Chris Gautier (Tiffany) and Erin Gautier (John Gill McCrory); his stepchildren, Don Bates (Greta), Kiley Bates and Artie Orgeron (Albert); his daughter-in-law Michelle Bates; his brother John William "Jack" Gautier (Suzanne); his grandchildren, John Scott Payne, Lillian Gautier, Cavins Gautier, Teigan Gautier, Jack Bates, Madison Bates, Merideth Bates, Amelia Bates, Olivia Vargas (Jose), Abigail Bates, Elizabeth Orgeron and Eva Orgeron; and his cousin William Farris (Judy).
