She was predeceased by: her parents, Brooksie Freeman and Calvin Maple Ross; her husband James "Scratch" Owens, Sr.; and her sisters, Sandra Graham and Elaine Lee.

She is survived by: her children, Beth Pinion (Allen), James "Butch" Owens (Lisa), Callie Owens (Dinah) and Robin Laiche (James); and her siblings, Yvonne Mitchell and Hank Ross (Sheryl). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
