It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Louis Joseph Abshire Sr. of Amelia, Louisiana, born in Kaplan, Louisiana, who passed away on May 4, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Mae Verrett Abshire; his parents, Wiley Abshire and Emily LeJeune Abshire; his siblings, Laura Simon, Inez Griffin, Hilda LeBlanc, Olive Hines, Lula Gaudet and Wiley "Joseph" Abshire, Jr.; his sister-in-law Rose Mary Guillory; and his parents-in-law, Alfred and Marie Verrett.
He is survived by: his children, Louis Abshire, Jr. (Mary Ann), Dalton Abshire (Patsy), Ginger A. Brown (Charlie) and Kathie A. Crochet (Gordon); his sister Lola Verrett (Raymond); his brother-in-law Sheldon Guillory; and his grandchildren, Donovan Abshire, Cindy Martin, Bonnie Fryou, Angie Kulka, Chantel Robinson, Dawn Stone, Brandi Threeton, Gordon Crochet, Jr., Erica Abshire, Dalton Abshire, Jr. and Janet Eaton. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
