He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Nell Walker Patten; his parents, Reese Clarence Patten and Ida Lee Mason Patten; his son Gregory Lane Patten; his stepson Neal Paul Couvillion; and his brothers, J. C. Patten, Lee Patten and Albert Earl Patten.
He is survived by: his son Harlan Ray Patten of Ball, LA.; his stepchildren, Glen J. Couvillion (Marcia) of Pineville, LA. and Gwen Couvillion Garnett (Greg) of Denham Springs, LA.; his brother Rev. Kenneth Patten (Patsy) of Summit, MS.; his grandchildren, Cher Wilson (Joey), Marcy Fluitt (Eric), Lauren Holmes (Chris), John Shirley (Kasey), David Couvillion (Morgan) and Micah Couvillion; and his great grandchildren, Zoe Couvillion, Brooks Jeansonne, Cara Jeansonne, Christa Jeansonne, Miles Fluitt, Myla Shirley, Lane Fluitt, Peyton Shirley, Ellis Couvillion and Landry Couvillion.
