He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilburn Felder Nichols (Nick) and Carrie Estes Nichols; his wife Joan Boudreaux Nichols; and his brothers, Rev. Billy Nick Nichols and Major Earl Dewey Nichols.

He is survived by: his children, Timothy Mack Nichols (Debbie) of Otis, David Neal Nichols Plano (Quinlynn) and Carolyn Rashall (Christopher) of Alexandria, Louisiana; his stepchildren, Gayle Stolzer of Alexandria Louisiana, Phillip Steven Stolzer of Atlanta Ga and Mark Douglas Stolzer (Terry) of Lafayette Louisiana; his grandchildren, Felicity (Marius), Travis (Kristy), Sarah Nichols, Nick Nichols (Donabel), Alexandra Norwood (Caleb), Sean Michael Rashall, Samantha (Eustac), Brandon Rashall, Katherine Joan Rashall and Eric Hill Stolzer; and his siblings, Carolyn Holt (Keith) of Sieper Louisiana and Kenny Nichols of Pineville Louisiana. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.

“I have only known Mack for the last couple of years. He started coming to our men’s Bible study and fellowship. He also came to our church’s small groups and I would see him at Sunday worship services occasionally. We always talked. He shared story after story and asked about my life as well. He became a friend that I looked forward to seeing. He was always smiling and making jokes at the expense of our mutual friend, Jack. I will miss my friend and his wit and humor!”
