He was predeceased by: his former wife Shirley; his brother Rex Ponthie; and his wife Marjorie Dukes Ponthie. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Leslie Ponthie Gorman of El Paso, Isabelle, Ross Ponthie of Alexandria, Caroline (Ernest), Emily, Abigail, Neil Ponthie of Lafayette, Courtney (Leon), Lauren and John Ponthie of Shreveport; and his great grandchildren, Livie, Emersyn, Margaret and Logan.

The family respectfully asks for donations to Manna House and St. Frances Cabrini Church in lieu of flowers.
