He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Dorty and Queen Esther Dorty; his siblings, Lillie, Linda, Roy Dorty, Sr., Henry Dorty, Sr., Joe Dorty and Earl Dorty; and also Sedrick Dorty, Jr..
He is survived by: his close friend Marjorie Kirklin; his sisters, Ethel Dorty-Turner of Houston, TX and Verta Dorty of Chicago, IL; his children, Charles Dorty, Jr., Sedrick Dorty, Sr. (Erika), Tamla Dorty, Felicia Key (Childuberry) and Pamela Kirkland; and his close friend Joseph "Rabbit" Carter. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Scott Olly Baptist Church (2627 Willow Glen River Rd, Alexandria, LA 71302). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
