He was predeceased by: his former wife Johnie Mae Collins Smith; and his siblings, Maxine Ard and Wayman Smith. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Smith; his children, Linda Fay Smith, David Wayne Smith (Mary Edith), Cercie Michael Smith (Bonnie) and Roger Melvin Smith (Cheryl); his stepson Thomas Hughes (Veronica); his grandchildren, Leslie Ann Petri, Mary Beth Smith, Christopher Melvin Smith and Jacob Roger Smith; his great grandchildren, Madison, Ayden, Avery and Karsyn; and his sister Lillian Nuccio. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
