He was predeceased by: his wife Doris Ducote; his parents, Charles Ducote and Jeanette Ducote; and his sons, Jeff and Duane Melancon.

He is survived by: his children, Randy Ducote (Nikki), Angie McNeil (David), Holly Lively, Kevin Melancon (Kim), Ravan Harelson (Jody), Camelia Melancon, Gail Millet (Larry) and Mary Melancon. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren.
