He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. David "Dink" Melvin and Lottie Adams Melvin; his wife Verna Mae Rice Melvin; and his siblings, Benny Melvin, Phyllis Kilgore and Loretta May Ison.
He is survived by: his children, Ginger Estep of Ormond Beach, FL, Penny Kincaid (Roger) of Columbus, OH, Pepper Stinson (Tom) of Maysville, KY and Rev. Steve Melvin (Shawn) of Mayfield, KY; and his siblings, Rachel Newsome of South Shore, KY, Ed Melvin (Linda) of Worthington, Wayne Melvin (Lila) of Wurtland, Danny Melvin (Molly) of Parker, CO and Dr. Thomas Melvin (Jeanette) of Raceland. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
