He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Abner and Axie Grubb Abner; his siblings, Jean Abner Smith (Samson Smith), Leroy Abner and Andrew "Cotton" Abner (Odamae Abner); his grandson Kevin Thomas; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Smith and Corey Bays.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie Smith Abner; his children, Judy Abner Thomas (Wayne) and Teddy Abner (Karin) of Woollum; his brother Lewis Abner (Willie Lee "Tootsie") of Harrisburg, Kentucky.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Smith (Robbie) of Girdler, Jessica Bays (John) of Barbourville, Christopher Abner (Meghan) of Corbin, William "Chad" Abner (Kayla) of Barbourville, Haleigh Grubb of Girdler and Jordan Grubb of Barbourville; his great grandchildren, Kylee Smith, Dylan Smith, Jayden Bays, Nolan Abner, Rowan Abner and Gilbert; his nephew Marty Abner of Woollum; and his sister-in-law Brenda Abner of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky..
