He was predeceased by: his parents, Austin Carter and Corinne Carter; his wife Betty Carter; his son Todd Carter; and his brother Gary Carter.
He is survived by: his sons, Rod Carter, Jr. (Leslie), Danny Swords, Vernon Swords (Janie) and Bill Swords (Charmaine); and his sisters, Jan Walters (Calvin) and Kaye Thomas. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
