He was predeceased by: his parents, William Loyd Smyth, Sr. and Amelia Catherine Allen Smyth; his sons, Philip Smyth and Gregory Loyd Smyth; and his siblings, William Clyde Smyth, George Smyth, Charles Paul Smyth, Allen Lee Smyth, John Harvey Smyth, Mildred Marie Sparks and Millie Verne Caldwell.
He is survived by: his son Derek Smyth of Clay City; his brother Tommy Smyth (Kathy) of Miamisburg, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Breanna Nickell, Zachary Smyth, Tommy Kennon, Brandon Kennon, Haley Hall, Sara Kennison and Morgan Castle. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
