He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Leander and Mary Josephine Hisle Elam; his daughter Carrie Mitchell; and his brother John Wayne Elam. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Lynn Hammelman Elam; his children, Julie Gayle Webb (Leslie) and Joseph Ray; his granddaughters, Jayice Gayle and Blair Mitchell Raney; his siblings, Linda Lee Young (James) of Cincinnati and Henry Leander, Jr. of South Carolina; his former spouse Gayle Welch; and also, Suzy Hammelman Bailey (Paul), Steve Hammelman (Vicki) and David Hammelman (Angela). He is also survived by 2 step grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
