He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hunter and Arkie Ellen Isaacs Cornett; and his sisters, Naomi Cornett Hafer and Iva Lee Cornett Gabbard. He is survived by: his wife Elva Arnold Cornet of Beattyville; his children, Cathy Cornett Branson of Beattyville and James Hunter Cornett of Lexington, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Seth Tyler Branson (Brierly) of Lexington, Alexandra Caitlin Cornett Cabrera of Lexington and Anderson Hunter Cornett of Lexington; his great grandchildren, Liam Riley of Lexington and Mila Skylar Branson of Lexington; and his siblings, Thomas Harrison Cornett of Booneville, Kentucky and Shirley Cornett-Thueneman of West Chester, Ohio. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
