Cecil Dale Garrett, 94, died March 18, 2024, in Winchester, Kentucky. A memorial service will be held at Grace Bible Church, 250 N Main Street, Winchester, at 3 pm March 30, 2024, with visitation from 1 pm. Send donations to Church of Christ Worldwide P.O. He was born October 25, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Stanton Dewitt Garrett and Mary Jesse "Dolly" Adamson Garrett. He married Elisabeth "Betsy" Salmon in 1951 while stationed in New Jersey with the U.S. Army and they moved to Winchester in 1960. Cecil was a chemistry professor and academic dean at Southeastern Christian College until its closing in 1979, and was Administrative Staff Officer in the University of Kentucky Physics and Astronomy Department until retirement.
He was an active member and elder of the Belmont Church of Christ, Winchester. His interests included photography, story telling and reading. He is survived by three siblings, Robert, Carolyn and Anna Marie, his children and their spouses, Robert, Dale (Carolyn), Mark (Candy), Mary Lynn Houtz and Jonathan (Rozalia), 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Dewitt and Verna Mae, his wife, Betsy, his daughters-in-law, Lucilla Garrett and Suzanne Garrett, and his son-in-law, Frank Houtz, and his grandchildren, Israel Houtz, Qavah Houtz and Naomi Ruth Garrett.
