He was predeceased by: his parents, Ashley Ward and Arlene Blair Ward Castle; his brother David Ashley Ward; and his stepfather Sammy "Burrhead" Castle. He is survived by: his wife Esther Walters Ward; his sons, Jerry Bradley Ward (Alice Faye) of Williamsport and John Wesley Ward (Sarah) of Swamp Branch, Kentucky; his grandson Tucker Layne Ward; and his siblings, Danny Ward (Wilma) of Thelma, Kentucky, Judy Blanton of Staffordsville, Lajeania Vickers (Larry) of Elizabethtown, Terrie Crislip (Melvin) of Sitka and Martha Ward of Sarasota, Florida..
