He was predeceased by: his parents, G. B. Rains and Carrie Rains (Phillips); and his brothers, Bill Rains, Buck Rains and Charlie Byrd.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa Rains of Williamsburg; his children, Tammie Pecora of Georgia and Alex Rains of McCreary County; and his sisters, Georgie Davis (Jerry) of Rockholds, Marilyn Lanham (Ray) of Williamsburg, Theresa Watson (Ernest) of Williamsburg and Pam Barton of Corbin. He is also survived by five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
