He is survived by: his wife Pauline Williams Bates; his children, Marie Bates Holbrook of Ermine, Cindy Eldridge of Mayking and Jesse Lee Bates of Whitesburg; his sisters, Pearlie Bates of Thornton and Maggie Stewart of McRoberts; and his grandchildren, Margaret Holbrook, Ricky Holbrook, Cody Bates, Damon Bates, Kaitlyn Snyder, Blake Bates, Kayla Riley, Kristin Eldridge, Kierra Bates and Jesse Duel Bates.
