He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnie "Bear" Childers and Ruby "Bear" Childers; his grandfathers, William "Doc" Bartley and Don; and his son William Douglas Childers.
He is survived by: his significant other Peggy Jo; his daughters, Donna Jo Childers of Nicholasville and Ina Michelle Matthews (Charles Matthews Jr.); and his grandchildren, Eli Matthews of Whitesburg, Isaac Matthews of Whitesburg, Carlie Childers Cornett and Jordan Childers. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate charitable gifts be made to the First Baptist Church of Whitesburg or to the double kwik Fueling the Future Foundation, which provides scholarships in the counties served by the company Don founded.
