She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Richie and Rilda B. Combs Richie; her husband John M. Steele; her daughter Janet Steele; and her siblings, Squire, William, Arnold, Joe, Charlie Richie and Bethana Bostick.
She is survived by: her children, Donna (Jim Carty), Alan Steele of King, NC and Gail (James Johnson); her grandchildren, Jeremy Carty (Melissa), Malayia Whisman (Shannon), Alexandra Carty (Lee), Tiffany Copeland (Robert) and Jarrod Johnson (Lisa); her great grandchildren, Abigail Broadus, Jake Broadus, Fiona Johnson, Benjamin Whisman, River Lee McClure and Lucas Carty; her sisters, Charlene Rose of Gratis, OH and Betsy Ann Combs of Hebron, IN; and her sisters-in-law, Geneva Pearl Steele and Nancy Weddington. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
