She was predeceased by: her parents, Leck Gullett and Alenia Banks Gullett; her former husband James Lee Bates; her husband Elwood Dunn; her sons, Stevie Bates and Mickey Dean Bates; and her brother Hershell Gullett.

She is survived by: her sons, Kenny Bates (Tosha) of West Liberty and Randall Bates of Campton, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Caleb Bates and Griffin Bates; her stepgrandchildren, Wilma Gomez, Robert Evans and Jamie Evans; her sister Twyla Brewer; and her daughter-in-law Rita Bates of Austin, Indiana..
