He was predeceased by: his parents, Eite Gibson and Lula Jacobs Gibson; and his siblings, Ronnie Gibson, Marvin Gibson, Carl Blankenship, Jewell Fay Gibson, Nancy Carol Gregory and Mildred Gibson.

He is survived by: his sisters, Phyllis Gibson of Prestonsburg and Mary Lou Keller of New York.
