He is survived by: his wife Doris Thackston; his children, Richard, Jr., Joseph, Nathan Thackston and Melissa Ann Thackston; his stepchildren, Earl Sharp, Charles Sharp, Teresa Sharp and Jesse Sharp Jr.; and his brother David Thackston. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grand-daughter.
