He was predeceased by: his mother Sue McMahan; and his brother Chuck McMahan. He is survived by: his wife Shannon Medley McMahan; his sons, Alex (Emily) and Adam McMahan; his father Jake McMahan; his siblings, Ricky (Mary), Dennis (Vicky), Dale McMahan (Margie) and Janice Philpott (Steve); and his grandsons, Rhett and Oliver McMahan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions be made to the Norton Cancer Institute.
