He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Schirmer and Anna Elenore Klaren Schirmer; his wife Helen Floyd Ping Schirmer; his siblings, Buddy Schirmer, Bill Schirmer and Mary Ellen Schirmer; and his stepchildren, Reba Gail Robinson and Thomas Ping.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Bobby Ping, Billy Ping, Glenn Ping, Melba Wheeler and Theresa Ping; and his sister Margaret Coomer. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
