He was predeceased by: his parents, Lafe Smith and Dorothy Kirby Smith. He is survived by: his wife Penny Smith of Warsaw; his sons, Spencer and Chris Smith; his grandchildren, Jordan and Geoffrey Smith; and his siblings, Joe Smith (Dawn) and Margaret Allen (Patrick).

In lieu of flowers, the family has ask that donations be made to the Warsaw Christian Church.
