He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Scott and Geneva Hulsey Laing; and his son Eric Laing. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Laing of Walker; his children, Michael Laing of Walker, Sarah Laing of Barbourville and April Simpson of Harlan; his brothers, Ernie Laing (Christine) of Michigan and Roger Laing (Ruthanne) of Michigan; his grandchildren, Natalie Sanders, Joshua, Marissa, Mason, Alex and Erica Roberts; and his great grandchildren, Adalynn Sanders and Kaiden Dodd.
