He was predeceased by: his father Carl B. Lakes; his grandparents, Russell and Susie Cates; and his sister Carolyn Christian. He is survived by: his mother Rosa M. Reams; his children, Aaron Joseph Lakes and Tianna Marie Lakes (Mark McCubbins); the parents of children, Barbara Taylor and Kelly Nichole Lakes; his sisters, Lawana Kaylor, Freda Cates, Nancy Webb and Rhonda Rivera; his grandchildren, Kameron Smith, Benjamin Smith and Jaxon Smith; and his friend Joshua Hukle. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other friends.
