He is survived by: his parents, Cathy Young Tate of Richmond and Vernon Marshall, Jr. (Sharon) of Richmond; his sons, D. L. Marshall (Kristi) of Richmond and Zach Marshall (Mary) of Waco; his siblings, Donnie Marshall of West Virginia, Tessie Reid of Berea, Veronica Hodges (Keith) of West Virginia and Jennifer Marshall of Richmond; and his grandchildren, Gavin, Wyatt, Evie, Taelynn and Laylin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
