He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah Farler Brashear; his daughter Kimberly Brashear; and his brother Don Brashear. He is survived by: his daughters, Robin Brashear of Viper, KY and Becky Brashear of Viper, KY; his grandchild Caitlyn Sokoll (Jake) of Pikeville, KY; his great grandchild Claire Sokoll; his nieces, Donna Ratliff and Deana Brashear; and his great-nephew Ben Ratliff.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center and Bluegrass Care Navigators.
