He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Shumate and Iva Lillian Shumate; his siblings, Basil Shumate and Nina Atcher; and his great grandchild Ellie Joy Cable.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Cobel Shumate of Vine Grove, KY; his children, Bryce Shumate (Kim) of Elizabethtown, KY and Scarlett Shumate of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren, Meighan Cable (Mike) of Elizabethtown, KY and Daniel Shumate (Kali) of Elizabethtown, KY; and his great grandchild Denver Cable.
