He is survived by: his children, Nelida Pelayo Flores, Blanca Rosa Pelayo Rodriguez, Jose Manuel Pelayo Rodriguez, Lorena Pelayo Rodriguez, Juan Luis Pelayo Rodriguez, Rafael Pelayo Rodriguez and Sary Pelayo Savalsa. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
