He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Downey and Geneva English Downey; his sons, David Downey and Glenn Downey; and his siblings, Sam Downey and Patsy Downey Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Neal Downey; and his grandson Chris Downey. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
