He was predeceased by: his father John H. McClain; his brothers, Jospeh Lee McClain and Roy David McClain; his granddaughter Tara Beth McClain; his son-in-law Gary Coffey; and his great grandchild Ozzy Coots.

He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Matthews McClain; his children, Denise (Walker), Dena Coffey, Karen Boens (Glenn), Alan McClain (Gloria Jean), Sandy Fathergill (Wade) and Beverly Walling (John); and his grandchildren, Steven McClain, Mac Hatton, Matthew Coffey, Amy Coots, Neal Fathergill, Tracie Fathergill, Nick Walling and Kris Walling. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Bluegrass or to Versailles Baptist Church.
