He was predeceased by: his parents, William Burke and Eunice Baldridge Burke; and his son Charles Russell Burke. He is survived by: his wife Cathy "Suzie" Sweeney Burke; his daughters, Tracey Adams (Daniel), Kristi Burke and RaeLynn Waters (David); his siblings, Ronnie Burke (Amy), Kathy Currans (Wayne) and Chuck Burke (Kathy); and his grandchildren, Jacob Spurlock, Gracie Burke, Connor Burke, Casen Waters and Lilah Waters. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
